Sports Medicine Physicians and Orthopedic Surgeons

Our physician team works with youth, collegiate and professional athletes from all across New Jersey including Rutgers University, Seton Hall University, Princeton University and the New Jersey Devils.

A Team Approach to Recovery
The sports medicine team includes physicians, orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, occupational therapists and athletic trainers who collaborate on a patient’s plan of care as needed. We treat a wide variety of bone, joint and muscle conditions.

A sports medicine physician is familiar with the many injuries and conditions common to various athletes. Athletes in similar professions are inclined to encounter similar injuries. For example, pitchers are more inclined to suffer elbow pains while soccer players receive more foot and ankle injuries. Having treated others in your athletic profession before, a sports medicine doctor has a broad range of experience to draw on when making a diagnosis and prescribing treatment.

Rehab Services
Rehab for sport, work and life. Sports injury, orthopedic and pre- and post-surgical rehabilitation for all ages. Services include post-concussion rehab, ACL return to activity, and therapy for back and neck pain, knee pain, upper and lower extremity injuries, chronic sports injuries and arthritis.

Professional Development

Sports Medicine
Education on various topics within the realm of performance enhancement, fitness, injury reduction, and wellness for workplaces/employees, athletes, coaches, parents and community groups. Topics include: Concussions and other sports injuries, techniques and approaches to strength and conditioning, flexibility, functional movement, sports nutrition, and injury reduction programs.
The Matthew J. Morahan III Health Assessment Center for Athletes (MJM)
The Morahan Center provides education, evaluation and assessment of sports injury and sport related cardiac and concussion screenings. The Morahan Center prides itself on the prevention of sports injury and youth safety. To date, MJM has provided over 40,000 screenings across New Jersey. MJM is a leader in providing a comprehensive approach to sports injury management catering emergent, orthopedic, sports medicine, sports nutrition and concussion care to the needs of every athlete.
