As New Jersey’s only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, Rutgers Cancer Institute together with RWJBarnabas Health provides your patients with access to the most advanced treatment options including complex surgical procedures, sophisticated radiation therapy techniques, innovative clinical trials, immunotherapy, and precision medicine.
From diagnosis to treatment to survivorship, our facilities across the stateprovide your patients with comprehensive multidisciplinary care for adult and pediatric patients, with routine, rare and complex cancers. As both an academic medical center and an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, we offer an extensive portfolio of clinical trials and novel treatment options – many not available elsewhere. We are one of only two entities in New Jersey to offer CAR T-cell therapy as well as blood and marrow transplantation. Our Comprehensive Cancer Center designation from the National Cancer Institute, which is the only one in the State, is proof of the continued dedication and momentum of our program.
Our team of internationally recognized hematologist/oncologists, advanced practice nurses, and oncology nurse navigators, work closely together to ensure patients receive the best care, tailored to their individual needs, while keeping the referring physician informed and involved throughout the process. RWJBarnabas Health has a robust Oncology Nurse Navigation program staffed by nurses with a specialty in oncology. This expertise provides patients with a knowledgeable resource who can help answer questions, provide guidance, coordinate care, and serve as an important member of the patient’s care team.

Bone and Marrow Transplant
Our Blood and Marrow Transplant Program, accredited by the National Marrow Donor Program and FACT, has been performing autologous and allogenic transplants since 1995. Transplants and cellular therapy, procedures and follow-up are coordinated with the patient and referring physician and when appropriate, follow-up care takes place locally.

Complex Surgical Oncology Procedures
Combining the expertise of fellowship-trained surgeons with advanced technologies to treat benign and malignant tumors with complex surgical procedures, our physicians have disease specific expertise in routine, rare and complex cancers. Our surgeons possess expertise in open surgical procedures and minimally invasive surgical procedures including utilization of the da Vinci robotic surgical system. They are also leaders in laparoscopic renal procedures and have extensive experience with robotic prostatectomy, having performed over 2,000 procedures.

Sophisticated Radiation Therapy Techniques
Specialty trained board-certified radiation oncologists at our facilities across the state deliver sophisticated radiation therapy in the treatment of cancer, as well as non-malignant tumors, eliminating cancerous cells or tumors while minimizing damage to the surrounding tissue. Our nationally recognized radiation oncologists are at the forefront of cancer research and treatment developing guidelines and protocols for advanced care.
