Chief of Cancer Survivorship, Rutgers Cancer Institute and RWJBarnabas Health
I am honored to be a part of Rutgers Cancer Institute and RWJBarnabas Health as the Chief of Cancer Survivorship. I have been a medical oncologist for more than 25 years. I wanted to be a physician since childhood and am the first person in my family to become a doctor and even graduate college. I have always felt that medicine is truly a calling.
I completed medical school at Upstate Medical Center at Syracuse and an internal medicine residency at New York Hospital-Cornell Weill Medical Center. I served as Chief Medical Resident at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where I also completed a fellowship in hematology and oncology. I have always been a patient-centric provider and after working in private practice in Bergen County treating a wide array of cancers, I brought my skills to MSKCC in Basking Ridge and Bergen.
My mission has always been to provide the highest quality care with compassion and respect and I have participated in clinical trials to advance cancer care. As the number of cancer survivors grows exponentially, my vision is to optimize the experience and care of survivors throughout their cancer journey by advancing clinical care, survivorship research and education.
Philosophy of Care:
I am passionate about practicing patient-centric medicine with expertise, compassion, and respect. Medical oncology was a calling for me, and I am humbled and honored to care for patients. We have seen an
exponential increase in survivors which is so exciting, but which also highlights the importance of cancer survivorship receiving the attention, resources, and research necessary to provide the very best care
throughout the cancer journey.
