Anthony Altobelli, MD, FACC, serves as the Clinical Chief of Cardiology, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) in New Brunswick, NJ, an RWJBarnabas Health facility. In this capacity, he is responsible for the improvement and expansion of hospital-based Cardiovascular services at one of the state’s highest volume and most comprehensive programs. Dr. Altobelli also serves as co-director of the RWJBarnabas Health Sports Cardiology Program and is a Cardiology consultant to Princeton University and Rutgers University athletic programs. In 2023, Dr. Altobelli was appointed as Associate Chief Medical Officer at RWJUH, expanding his administrative oversight to clinical delivery across all service lines, reporting to the Chief Medical and Quality Officer. He also sits on the RWJUH Medical Executive Committee. In 2024, Governor Philip Murphy appointed Dr. Altobelli to the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners to serve in one of the 12 physician seats with a term of three years.
Dr. Altobelli is a non-invasive Cardiologist and Cardiac Imaging specialist by training and has been in practice for 21 years. He participates in the education and training of medical students and physicians-in-training at the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He is clinically active, treating patients with all-type of cardiovascular conditions. Dr. Altobelli is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
