Chemotherapy Treatment
Dedicated Cancer Experts in New Jersey
Chemotherapy has become one of the most trusted and widely used treatments to fight the advancement of cancer. Essentially, chemotherapy refers to medications that are used to slow or eliminate the growth of cancer cells. Chemotherapy isn't enough to fight cancer alone, but it often serves as a critical piece of a patient's cancer treatment when used in conjunction with surgery and radiation therapy.
At our facilities, we offer a variety of chemotherapy treatments that our medical oncologists can personalize to each patient's needs. These oncologists work closely with our patients' treatment team to ensure that their chemotherapy has the greatest, positive impact on their health.
Understanding Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy includes oral or intravenous medications that are used to stop or slow the growth of cancer cells. Depending on a patient's circumstances, chemotherapy can be administrated in a patient's home, or by medical professionals here at our cancer centers.
At our cancer centers, patients can expect:
- Relaxing accommodations
- Friendly, supportive staff
- Televisions
- Additional therapies (such as biotherapy, hormonal therapy, etc.)
Countering the Side Effects
Chemotherapy is often recognized for the side effects it can produce. These can include nausea, fatigue, and hair loss. Oncologists can help many of our patients with additional medications and therapies to help manage these side effects and ensure that they are as comfortable as possible as they complete their chemotherapy.
