NEWARK, NJ (May 8, 2024) — Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, hosted its 10th Annual Women’s Health Day “Healthy Women, Healthy Families” at the Newark Airport Marriott Hotel on May 4, 2024.

“Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is committed to delivering excellent patient care and to creating experiences such as Women’s Health Day where we provide attendees with the tools they need to maintain good health and share those tools with their families and community members,” said Darrell K. Over 600 women attended the expert panel discussion on women’s health and wellness moderated by Atiya Jaha-Rashidi, MHA, RN, Chief Equity Officer and Vice President of Community Relations at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey.

Dee C. Marshall, CEO of Diverse & Engaged, an award-winning business owner, influencer, and thought leader on equity, diversity, and inclusion, presented a motivational speech focused on the importance of wellness. She shared her inspiration on why she takes care of herself and invited attendees to find their inspiration as well, challenging all to take responsibility to look good, feel good and be good.

The break-out sessions were hosted by representatives from twelve of Newark Beth Israel Medical Center’s outpatient departments, providing information on cancer prevention, geriatric health, dental health, nutrition, physical therapy, HIV/AIDS, pre-natal care, heart health, community health, lung cancer, insurance, and weight loss management/surgery. Hundreds of attendees took advantage of the afternoon wellness activities that included free health screenings for blood pressure and diabetes risk assessments, wellness counseling and fitness demonstrations. These screenings aimed to raise awareness about common health conditions and encourage proactive healthcare among women.

A popular wellness and well-being breakout session was the Paint ‘n Sip with active participation by close to 100 “artists” at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center’s 10th Annual Women’s Health Day on May 4, 2024 at the Newark Liberty Airport Marriott.

In addition to the healthcare screenings, stress-relieving wellness activities included Reiki, massage, yoga, meditation, three sessions of a Paint ‘n Sip class and a financial wellness seminar. Dozens of vendors and women entrepreneurs from the community were invited to showcase their products that promote wellness, what some might call “retail therapy.”
