Unique Opportunities
The PGY2 Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Rutgers University/RWJUH will provide the learning experiences necessary to develop a well-rounded foundation in emergency medicine. RWJUH is the only academic medical center and provider of tertiary and quaternary health care services in central New Jersey creating for high volume and high acuity emergency departments. Unique opportunities available to provide residents with exposure to the many facets of emergency medicine and clinical pharmacy practice include:
- Pre-Hospital Medicine rotation with Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health Mobile Health Services.
- Toxicology rotation with hospital-based medical toxicologist. Additional opportunity to rotate at New Jersey Poison Control Center.
- Pediatric emergency medicine experience through coverage of pediatric emergency department and pediatric intensive care unit rotation.
- Academic emergency medicine rotation and longitudinal academic focus with opportunities to precept PGY1 pharmacy residents and pharmacy students from Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy. Opportunities to lecture and participate in didactic curriculum at Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy also available.
- Teaching and Learning Certificate Program available through Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy (if teaching certificate program not completed during PGY1 residency).
- RWJBarnabas Health Pharmacy Residency Leadership Forum. Longitudinal experience designed for pharmacy residents in the RWJBarnabas Health System to develop clinical leadership skills and prepare to advance pharmacy practice.
