Target Audience: The target audience for this symposium is registered nurses and social workers who provide care for patients with chronic kidney disease. The content in this course is designed to improve the healthcare provider’s clinical practice and patient management during all phases of transplantation.

Purpose: The purpose of this program is to increase the attendee’s knowledge and understanding of the renal and pancreas transplantation process and the benefits it provides to patients diagnosed with chronic kidney disease.

Learning Objectives:

After completion, the participant will be able to:

  • Discuss the different phases of the transplantation process.
  • Describe two responsibilities of the transplant designee.
  • Identify two considerations in the psychosocial evaluation of transplant recipients.
  • Discuss three benefits of living donation.
  • List one strategy to help patients find a living donor.

Registration: This program is being offered free of cost to its attendees. There are limited spots available. We will place any additional registrants on a waiting list once our attendance has reached capacity. Attendees of this program will be provided with breakfast and lunch.

Contact Hours: RWJBH is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. A total of 5 continuing professional development units are awarded with successful completion of this program. Certification: Transplant Surgeon Designee Certificates will be provided to staff who attend the full program.
