Find Kidney Cancer Support Services Close to Home

RWJBarnabas Health understands that receiving a kidney cancer diagnosis can be among the most difficult types of news that one can receive. Dealing with cancer can affect every aspect of your life, from the physical, mental, emotional and even social realms.

While surgical oncology, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and other cancer therapies are an important part of your healing process, we know that kidney cancer support goes far deeper than just medicine.

To aid in your healing, our facilities provide a wealth of kidney cancer support services to our patients and their families.

Coordinated by a compassionate team of specialists, from certified oncology nurses to case managers and nutritionists, our kidney cancer support services and kidney cancer support groups include psychological counseling, nutritional counseling and pastoral care.

Psychological Counseling

Individual psychological cunseling helps to foster emotional wellness throughout your urologic and kidney cancer treatment. As part of our larger oncology support program, counseling is one aspect of kidney cancer support offered by RWJBarnabas Health. This therapy helps our patients and their families manage stress, deal with cancer treatment and its potential side effects, and cope with the emotional impacts of kidney cancer.

Nutritional Counseling

We offer nutritional counseling. Healthy lifestyle practices and eating habits help to strengthen a body’s immunity, which is beneficial to healing when combined with other kidney cancer therapies. Our licensed dieticians may be able to provide additional kidney cancer support by advising you on specialized diets that may aid in reducing inflammation, maintaining energy levels and reducing the side effects of cancer.

Pastoral Care

For many people, spiritual guidance or leadership is an important part of their kidney cancer support and healing. In coordination with our social work team, we offer educational and home pastoral care services and palliative care treatments from members of the clergy, who come from a variety of faiths across our communities.
