    Bio

    Yi-Horng Lee, MD, completed his undergraduate education at Columbia University and attended medical school at SUNY-Brooklyn (Downstate Medical Center). He completed his surgical residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. With a strong interest in transplantation, he did two years of transplant immunology research at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Lee also completed a year of transplant surgery fellowship in Pittsburgh before his pediatric fellowship in Buffalo.

    After completing the pediatric surgery fellowship, he was an attending surgeon at The Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo from 2006 to 2009. During that time, he was also a consultant pediatric surgeon for Roswell Park Cancer InstituteDr. Lee was an attending pediatric surgeon at the University of Rochester Medical Center Golisano Children’s Hospital from 2009 to 2014. He joined Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital as the Chief of Pediatric Surgery in 2014. Since 2015, he has been the Surgeon-in-Chief at Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. He has covered the Pediatric Surgery Service at St. Barnabas Medical Center since 2017.

    Dr. Lee has a strong interest in neonatal surgery, thoracic surgery, hepatobiliary and GI surgery and minimally invasive surgery. He specializes in treating children with solid tumors, short gut syndrome, feeding difficulties and pectus excavatum. He mostly enjoys the wide range of operations performed by pediatric surgeons and has an interest in surgical outcome using appendicitis as a model to understand health care delivery. Scientifically, he has an interest in studying GI microbiota in pediatric surgical patients.
